This Lilly bloomed this year after taking a break last year. Charlie gave it to me 2 years ago for Mother's Day. I cleared away the weeds and gave it room to grow. Maybe next year there will be more.

Summer days
Summer days are filled with sunshine filled mornings, watching deer from the breakfast table, drinking coffee, savoring the sometimes cool mornings, seeing what flowers are blooming, late evening swims.
Many afternoons are spent indoors in the cool of the air conditioned home - crafting - sewing - planning projects, dreaming of trips to fun places, playing with little grandsons who come to play at Nana and Pops.

Country Living - Louisiana style
Well, here I am, blogging for the first time! I am creating this blog to share a little of my country living in Louisiana. I am not a native-born southerner, but have become a southerner since my family moved to the south from the Pacific Northwest when I was young. Alexandria, VA was our first move below the Mason - Dixon line, then to Atlanta and on to Louisiana in 1966 when I was 5. My husband still calls me a Yankee but I feel southern to a T! or tea! or tee!
All my married life, we have lived in the country - various places but this place I call home has been our homestead for the last 25 years.

There have been many changes along the way. I plan to share pictures to show how our place has changed physically. I really took to gardening when my children left home for college. Somehow I had time on my hands for the first time in a very long time!!! I took to the garden and my flowers!
